There’s no doubt that chrome comparatively provides better speed than other browsers. But, sometimes it may go slow and crash because of the different tech you’ve loaded in. Last month we provided some settings that you should do to make chrome faster. Here we’ll cover the “Aw, Snap!” error which is really damn annoying.
May be you were scrolling down on Facebook or twitter and suddenly Boom! “Aw, Snap!”. And the heck, you’ve got to reload the page. Well, you can get rid of the error by following these steps.
Always keep in mind the more extensions you load in the more slower it goes. 2-3 extension enabled is fine. So, make sure you disable other extensions. To disable extension first type in chrome://extensions in address bar which will directly take you to extension settings. There unmark the Enabled check box to which ever extension you think you don’t use frequently. That’ll temporarily remove the extension. Just enable it back whenever you want to use it. Also remove unused extensions.
Step-2: Check for Antivirus
Your antivirus may also be causing chrome to crash. If you’re using any internet security antivirus try disabling it for chrome. Test whether disabling it fixes the error, or keep using it.
Step-3: Check for Malware
Apart from internet security your computer may be corrupted with virus and malware. So make your you run a virus scan. That should surely fix the error. It worked for me.
Step-4: Create new user profile
If it still continues, your user profile may have got corrupted. You need to create a new user profile. To create one:
- First exit chrome. And search for “Default” folder in the root directory of chrome. Follow below given addresses.
Windows XP : %USERPROFILE%Local SettingsApplication DataGoogleChromeUser Data
Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8 : %LOCALAPPDATA%GoogleChromeUser Data
Mac OS X : ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default
- Rename that folder to “Backup Default” and start chrome again.
After you start the chrome a new “Default” folder will automatically be created. Where all your bookmarks and extension will be stored again. And the “backup default” will not be used as it’s corrupted some of it’s info will be required for chrome.
