To join the fray, there is a new ashen one, a browser emerging to rise up to challenge and that is the new Vivaldi browser. Vivaldi browser is based on open-source Chromium technology and has a potential to beat its predecessors.
Vivaldi browser is a combination of Opera and Chrome browser. We had written about it in the past. It gives a vibe of opera in the layout and performance like chrome. Chrome can be sluggish sometimes, but you can still make chrome run faster. Although the Vivaldi browser is still new compared to its fellow browser, so there are bound to be some flaws. But the new updates are expected to take Vivaldi to another level.

So we have decided to make a little guide for you to get started with Vivaldi browser. Take a glance at the basic features and settings that Vivaldi browser has to offer. So, let’s get started.
1.Vivaldi Browser’s Layout :
The first step after the installation is to select the layout. The browser will ask you to change layout according to your preferences. The browser provides six different default color schemes combinations to choose from. Next is the location of tabs. Unlike other browsers which have tabs locked in the top, Vivaldi offers unlocked tabs bar. The tabs bar can be placed at either top,bottom,left or right side. At the end, you can pick a background image for start page from default images provided by the browser.
You can change them again from the Vivaldi browser’s settings. Settings can be found in the panel. And where is this panel you ask? You can find it out below.
2.Start page :
Vivaldi opens a start page every time the user opens a new tab. The start page gives ease of accessibility to users. The start page can be divided into multiple sections.
Speed Dial : Just like Opera browser,Vivaldi also packs with its own speed dial. We all have many web sites saved in bookmarks. Finding the website you visit frequently from the pile of bookmarks is not a feasible task. This is where speed dial comes to the rescue. Speed dial works same as bookmarks. You can add your favorite websites in the speed dial and can easily access it from new tab anytime. Multiple websites can be added into speed dial.
Multiple Speed Dial : What is better than speed dial? The answer is multiple speed dials! You can categorize your favorite sites into multiple speed dials. Each speed dial’s name can be changed easily. The new speed dial can be added with “+” sign near speed dial. You can rename it instantly after creating it.
Bookmarks : Bookmarks tab contains many folders for different categories. Each folder comes with a default saved bookmarks with the installation. In bookmarks tab, multiple options are available. You can import bookmarks from the other browser, create a new bookmark or folder & delete them. Each bookmark folder can further customize with nickname and description. There is also an option available to make a bookmark folder as bookmark bar.
History : The last section is history. All your dark history is stored here. You can search in history & clear your browsing data.
3.Tab Bar :
Unlike other browsers, finding menu bar in Vivaldi browser can be a little bit tricky. Right-clicking on top of the browser won’t give you options to enable menu bar.The menu bar is located in the corner of the browser at the left side. The “V” symbol at the corner of the left side is Vivaldi browser’s symbol, not for vendetta. The symbol is actually menu bar and has a different menu like File, View etc. The menu bar can be placed in the browser by selecting “Horizontal Main Menu” from view in the menu. Vivaldi browser’s settings can be found in Menu>Tools.
There is also a button located near a right side of the browser in the tab bar. The button looks like a trash bin. It is one of a feature of Vivaldi browser for closed tabs. Any recently closed tabs can easily be opened again from it. The button will only show a list of website’s page closed in tabs.
4.Status Bar :
The Status bar is a bar at the bottom of a screen. The corner of a right side have some buttons. They are following.
Slider : You can zoom-in or zoom-out any page using the slider in the status bar.
Page actions : The button next to slider gives tons of page options. You can block certain content,skew & transform images and much more.
Image options : You can filter between different options for images. You can block them on any pages or even allow only cached images to appear.
Screen Tilting : This is the best option for users who likes multitasking. With screen tilting, you can see & use multiple tabs in different ways at the same time. You can tilt Vivaldi browser in three different ways. You can tilt screen either horizontally or vertically or even make a grid.
5. Panel :
The panel button is located at a left side in the status bar. The panel can also be accessed from Menu> View> Show Panel. The panel has unique features offered by Vivaldi browser. The settings button is also located inside the panel. The settings button can be found above panel button, a gear-like icon. The panel also contains bookmarks and download window. Now this concludes regular features. The other features are :
Notes : You can create a custom note for any of your favorite website’s page. You can either type the note or copy it from the page. Different screenshots and links can also be attached with notes. Notes can also be saved in different folders,like bookmarks. This feature is very useful for users who likes to read a lot.
Web Panel : The web panel is sperate panel provided by Vivaldi browser. The web panel can store multiple links which can be accessed instantly. The web panel splits the browser screen into two and allows you to use two different websites at the same time. The multitasking can be achieved using web panels. The web panels can be added from “+” button inside the panel. Depending on the screen size, the panel will open either PC or mobile version of the webpage.
